We are looking for an Werkstudent / Lab Adssistant NI (m/f/d) to join our team.

 

The intern of the nanoindentation applications lab learns how to operate the TI990 and helps with the day to day work in the applications lab – system setup, calibrations, testing of customer samples, troubleshooting, beta testing of new software versions. This internship is part of the education of the international Masterclass for Materials Science at the RWTH-Aachen. It is a precondition for the successful applicant to take part in the masterclass and to agree to a master thesis coordinated by the Institut für Eisenhüttenkunde (IEHK) RWTH Aachen and Bruker Nano GmbH.

 

SUPERVISORY REQUIREMENTS:

  • None, student is supervised by Applications Manager/Supervisor of TI990 application Lab.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Perform nanomechanical tests to support the sales and technical activities of the Aachen Lab.
  • Mini-projects to support marketing activities – application examples for presentations or app notes.
  • Running experiments on the system independent and under supervision.
  • Helping with repeated advanced analysis routines.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Operating the Hysitron TI-990 indenter after training – sample treatment, mounting and system setup
  • Operating software and data analysis package
  • Master thesis related to RWTH-IEHK institute and Bruker facility.

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS:

  • Student of IEHK master class “Metallurgical Engineering”

EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Mini Thesis with IEHK – Background in materials science

PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • No requirements beyond the existing workplace in the Applications Lab
